Intrinsa (HSDD / Female Sexual Dysfunction)

 

Intrinsa is a medical patch that slowly releases testosterone to treat 'Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder'. Female sexual dysfunction is a condition where women may lack sexual desire orgasm problems or pain whilst having sexual intercourse. The testosterone is the same hormone that is produced in both men and women.

 

Will Intrinsa help me

 

Intrinsa is designed to help women that have had their ovaries removed, this causes the testosterone to drop by half, compared to before the operation. This decrease in testosterone has been associated with low sexual desire. This low sexual desire can cause personal, relationship problems. The medical term for this problem is 'Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder'.

 

Intrinsa is design for use by females up to the age of sixty, if you have not experienced an improvement after 6 months you should consult your doctor.

 

How to use intrinsa

 

The Intrinsa patches should be changed twice a week, the medication is absorbed through your skin slowly over a three to four day period. The patch is applied below your navel and waste. When changing the patch, locate the new patch in a different location below the waist, only ever wear one patch at a time.

 

When bathing, the patch should remain attached, just don't scrub the area where the patch is positioned

 

Don't sunbath with the patch displayed to the sun

Intrinsa is only available using a valid prescription; in the UK it is legal to complete an online medical questionnaire. It is then reviewed by a registered doctor to verify that the product is suitable for the patient with the given answers. The online medical will only take a few minutes to complete but must be done with honestly.

 

 

Intrinsa side effects

 

Like all medication, Intrinsa can cause side effects although not everybody will get them.

 

Tell your doctor immediately if you experience hair loss; enlargement of the clitoris; an increase in the amount of hair on the chin, upper lip; voice deepening. These side effects normally reverse if you stop taking Intrinsa.

 

If you notice your skin reacts very badly to the patches such as redness, oedema or blistering you should stop taking and consult your doctor.
