Tamiflu (Oseltamivir phosphate)
Tamiflu is a part of a medicine group called "neuraminidase inhibitors". These medicines prevent influenza from spreading inside the body and therefore help the body ease or prevent the flu from getting worse.
When to take Tamiflu
When you first realise you have the symptoms of flu. These symptoms include a sudden onset of fever (37.8 °C or greater); cough, runny or blocked noise; headaches; muscles aches and often fatigue.
How to take Tamiflu
Tamiflu is an oral medication, swallow the tablet with water. It helps to take the tablet during a meal or snack as it reduces the chances of feeling sick or nauseas.
Tamiflu Prescription
Tamiflu is only available using a valid prescription; in the UK it is legal to complete an online medical questionnaire. It is then reviewed by a registered doctor to verify that the product is suitable for the patient with the given answers. The online medical will only take a few minutes to complete but must be done with honestly.
Side Effects
Like all medicines, Tamiflu can cause side effects, although not everyone will get them.
The most common are nausea, vomiting, an upset stomach and headaches. These side effects usually occur when you first take Tamiflu, and reduce as the treatment continues. As stated above taking Tamiflu with food can alleviate some of the above side effects.
